The Food for Thought food scholarship program for ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ students will relocate to the main campus in an open-air market format, beginning with the Nov. 23 distribution date.
In order to plan accordingly, the Nov. 10 market has been canceled. Currently enrolled students can obtain Food for Thought client ID cards in the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Counseling and Advising Center on the first floor of Moody Hall on the main campus or at the office at the Applied Technology Center.
The Food for Thought market will be located in the Hermes Fitness Center parking area on 39th Street and will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23. The market will again be open on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Food for Thought is a partnership between ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½, the Galveston County Food Bank and the Houston Food Bank through its Food for Change food scholarship initiative.
Food for Thought gives all ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ students access to fresh produce, meats and other groceries on the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ campus, enabling them to save money for other necessities and to maintain their focus on school.
The program is operating on the regular scholarship program schedule this semester and is not be available to the general public. For a calendar listing of mobile food pantries in Galveston County open to the public, click here.
In addition to the distributions at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½, students also can locate unrestricted Food for Change markets here or by using the Houston Food Bank Mobile App. Food for Change markets are labeled to help clients identify all markets available to all Food for Change recipients.
